Facebook API – Worst API ever or the most up to date API
It is true that the Facebook API is considered the worst API ever (source: http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/11/facebook-wins-worst-api-in-developer-survey/) and many developpers (including me) have had loads of headache but I firmly believe that it is only API which contantly evolving.
Being tied to a static api and having updates only once or at most twice a year will not allow the API to grow fast. Facebook took a challenge not to care about what developers think of its API constantly evolving but from what you can see on facebook there are more and more applications daily. Challenging the way you thick, finding loop holes to track information or simply to be innovative by using the latest features of the API is what we developpers should see from the facebook api. I am not try to convince anyone that the API is good, I am only trying to focus on the title of my blog "Grow with technology". Facebook api grows everyday and it force us developpers to grow with it.
We should not just wait and see instead we should be part of the change. Developers must not apprehend changes as technology is evolving everyday and we should always be ready for the changes. At the end of the day even with the worse api ever many people have been able to build beautiful, innovative and state of the art application which come to "The world is changing but nothing changes, yet there are changes".
The next big challenge of facebook is to adapt applications on its newly "timeline for brands".
